About Me

MardiHeadshotWebsiteInternational education has been in my life since childhood.  From participating in peace camp overseas to studying abroad in Israel, Thailand and Venezuela, intercultural relations have shaped my values. I love culture and traveling so much that I managed to make a career out of it. After conducting business worldwide and traveling to over 50 countries, I’m not only able to adapt but also understand the value of cross-cultural experiences.

I earned my bachelor’s degree in Communications at Beloit College and my master’s degree in Intercultural Relations with a concentration in Training and Consulting from Lesley University.  I started my profession in study abroad with CIEE concentrating on the Asia region. After working in international education at Harvard and Tufts,  I went on to a long and rewarding career in international admission at Emerson College in Boston and as director of international admissions at Long Island University in New York.

I have led various workshops and presentations on topics ranging from marketing to international students in Latin America to determining how to maximize ROI.  I have held several leadership positions at NAFSA: Association of International Educators as well as volunteered in mentorship programs to guide newcomers to the field.
